Étang de Thau

A large lagoon behind Sète, launched from the south end at Marseillan by a small lighthouse. The Tramontana crosses the water from the north-west almost as strongly as on the coast, side-shore from the left, and raises a wind chop on the eastern shore; the south-easterly Marin comes side-shore from the right, usually lighter, and the long sandbank on the east side keeps the chop away from the launch. Seagrass drifts onto the stony entry, so a weed fin helps; suits all levels.
