Lago Calima

A reservoir in the green hills near Darién in Colombia's Valle del Cauca, famous locally for reliable, strong wind and tiny waves, and reached by bus from Cali or Buga. The best wind blows from January to May, side-shore or offshore, over calm, murky water with waves from none to small. Kite resorts and schools sit on the shore, though the strength means beginners may spend the day with a trainer kite; Cabo de la Vela and Santa Verónica on the coast are the alternatives.
