Larnaca – Alaminos

A kilometre of fine sand on the south coast of Cyprus, 20 minutes from Larnaca airport, where four breakwaters about 100 m out enclose a 500 by 100 m standing-depth pool of glassy water; outside the gaps there is wind chop mixed with swell when it blows. The wind is a local thermal that builds through the morning and peaks after lunch at 4–5 Bft, side-shore to slightly onshore from the right, with around 20 windy days a month in April, May, September and October and 24 °C water in autumn. A club spot that suits families and all levels; not for anyone expecting strong wind or allergic to club life.
