Le Grau-du-Roi

The bay that closes the long beach of La Grande-Motte, unusual in Occitanie because the Tramontana arrives side-shore or even side-onshore here instead of straight offshore. A westerly Tramontana brings a moderate wave and freeride conditions with the odd ramp; a south-easterly pushes a much bigger swell around the cape at Port Camargue onto the beach at Le Boucanet, side-shore and best the further west you start. Kiters launch in the lee of the breakwater at Rive Droite and can cross the whole bay; suits all levels, with bottom turns for those who want them.
