A reef-protected lagoon on Zanzibar's east coast with two windy seasons: the north-east Kaskazi from December to March at 14–20 knots and the stronger south-east Kusi from June to October. The water is warm and shallow at low tide and side-onshore wind makes it safe. A superb beginner and freestyle spot; the tide dictates when you can ride, so plan around it.
