Santa Verónica

A small town on a cliff above a large bay on Colombia's Caribbean coast, within reach of Cartagena, where strong wind blows across the bay from December to May. Rated among the best wave spots on earth, with freeride zones for experienced riders and flat, glassy areas where beginners learn with the local school. Palm trees, pelicans and small ocean-facing restaurants; Cartagena's La Boquilla and the bay of Puerto Velero, an hour away with gusts to 35 knots and 1.5 m depth, are the alternatives.
