Ulcinj – Velika Plaža

A 14 km strip of fine sand south of Ulcinj, the premier spot on the Adriatic coast, where a light thermal Maestral kicks in around 2–3 pm and blows cross-onshore through the afternoon on 50–80 % of days from May to September, usually 10–20 knots. The water is chest-deep a long way out over sand with no hazards beyond a stinging fish in the sand, choppy with the odd small wave: not a freestyle spot but perfect for cruising and freeriding. A tiny flat section in the Bojana river mouth is for experienced riders only; book at least ten days, since the wind is not guaranteed.
