A U-shaped bay 2 km deep on the Çeşme peninsula, with a 500 by 300 m standing area on its west shore and even glassier flat water on the east shore, where the wind is side-shore from the left. The thermal Meltemi blows from June to September and sets in around midday, and because the current runs with the wind the water stays smooth even when it is strong; Lodos from the south brings a long, non-breaking swell in spring and autumn, and Poiras and the feared Gerence fill the shoulder seasons with 4–7 Bft on about half the days. Closed on three sides, it is a safe learning and training ground for all levels, though foilers have to walk out 100–150 m before there is depth.
