Bel Ombre

A multi-spot on the south coast of Mauritius in front of the Heritage resorts, east of Le Morne: a standing area and a freeride strip inside the reef, a gentle beginner shore break and clean waves of up to 5 m on the reef for the experts. The south-east trade wind blows from May to October on about 80 % of days, usually 5 Bft or more, with 22 °C water and 24 °C air in the southern winter, so a long wetsuit is sensible; the rest of the year still sees wind on more than half the days, with cyclone risk in January and February. A family-friendly base with a station, rescue boats and storage right on the beach.
