Boa Vista – Sal Rei

Sal's quieter neighbour sits in the same winter trade-wind belt, averaging a good 5 Bft from December well into May with wind statistics almost identical to Sal. Sal Rei bay has side-offshore wind, long, drawn-out waves and, when the Atlantic swell eases, near-flat runs between the sets; the shore break is a metre lower at the station than in front of the big hotels downwind, and Turtle Bay next door has bigger waves to ride. For intermediate and advanced riders who don't mind a beach break; not a flat-water spot.
