The 35 km Hel peninsula in northern Poland has the open Baltic on one side and the shallow Bay of Puck on the other, so the bay-side spots at Chałupy work on almost every wind direction. The water is about half a metre deep and flat, with three kite centres on the beach, which makes it Poland's main learning ground. Season May to September; busy in July and August.
