Kuredu
A 1.5 km resort island in the Lhaviyani Atoll with a lagoon about 1 km long running out to the reef, fine sand underfoot everywhere and water that never drops below 28 °C, so no wetsuit and no shoes. The south-west monsoon from May to the end of October is the windiest time, though often at the planing limit, so an 8–18 m² range and a light-wind board are advised; from December to February a steady north-easterly of 10–18 knots blows, sometimes only for an hour or two a day, and March, April and November are changeover months with weeks of calm. Riding is right of the jetty out to the sandbank 1 km west, with coral only at the reef; a paradise for foilers and light-wind lovers rather than a strong-wind trip.
