Puclaro – Gualliguaica

An artificial lake in the surreal desert of the Elqui valley between La Serena and Pisco Elqui, ridden from Gualliguaica on its east shore under the Tololo observatory. A strong side-shore wind blows from January to May over water that ranges from flat to choppy, with hardcore winds that have made it famous among Chilean riders. Water levels vary and can be affected by El Niño, so check before travelling; for riders who can handle strong wind.
