Widely regarded as Sweden's kitesurfing capital, Varberg on the Kattegat coast has several beaches within reach, Apelviken and Kärradal among them, with consistent wind, fun waves and a lively watersports community. When the forecast looks good, half the country's riders seem to end up here. Season May to September with 15–30 knots from the south-west and west, stronger in spring and autumn; suits all levels.
