Coche Island

A small island between Isla Margarita and the mainland. At Playa La Punta the trade wind crosses a flat old salt works before reaching a 2 km bay, so it is offshore yet unusually steady, over perfectly flat, shallow water; the north end is for kiters. It is one of the best flat-water training spots anywhere, but ask about rescue before going out. El Coco on the east side is onshore and choppy, the start of an 8 km downwinder.
