An uncrowded 4 km beach of soft sand on Taiwan's north coast, an hour from Taipei. The usual north-easterly of 10–20 knots is onshore; easterlies and south-easterlies are better. Waves are 0.5–1 m in spring and summer and up to 4 m when a typhoon is near, though the coast guard may keep riders off the water during warnings.
