São Vicente – São Pedro

At São Pedro a gap between two mountains funnels the north-east trade wind onto the water about 2 Bft stronger than anywhere else in Cape Verde, 6–9 Bft or 30–35 knots, fully offshore and ironing the water flat, which makes it a freeride and freestyle speed spot. The offshore wind is covered by the station on the beach, but a heavy shore break of up to 2 m can land straight on the sand, and the crew will carry gear through it. Wave riders find clean reef breaks with side-shore wind on the north-east coast, where the wind is less fierce; for intermediate and advanced riders.
