Walensee – Walenstadt

A turquoise alpine lake between steep mountain walls in eastern Switzerland. The spot is next to the Seez delta at Walenstadt, where the valley channels both the southerly Föhn and a westerly afternoon thermal that usually arrives between four and six in the afternoon; after a Föhn day ends with a front, strong westerlies follow. The wind can be gusty, and only the marked area north of the delta may be used for launching.
