What Fehmarn is to the western Baltic, Rügen is to the east: Germany's largest island has a spot for every wind direction and every level close together, from the flat, standing-depth Bodden lagoons to wide beaches and proper wave spots. The shallow Bodden waters have made it a centre for learning, with numerous mobile and fixed schools along the beaches. Flat water and big standing areas for beginners, at least one good wave spot for every wind direction for the rest.
