San Andrés Island

A Colombian island in the western Caribbean, closer to Nicaragua than to the mainland, with crystal-clear water. The trade wind blows 10–20 knots, strongest from December to February and again in June and July; the downtown beach on the north side has chop and small waves in a small zone near the Lord Pierre hotel (never towards the airport), and Johnny Cay just offshore has shallow flat water and 1–2 m waves on the reef.
