A winter thermal, El Norte, blows most afternoons from November to March at 15–25 knots onto a long, sandy bay on the Sea of Cortez, with wind swell for downwinders and a large seasonal community of North American riders. The water is cool but sunny days are the norm. Suits all levels, with plenty of space and schools; the sister spot Los Barriles is an hour south.
