St. Peter-Ording

The kilometre-wide beach on the North Sea coast of Eiderstedt, home of the German kite and windsurf tour stops, works on any westerly wind. The tide decides its character: the sandbanks hold the waves back at low water, while at spring tide they can run right up the beach, and nothing sorts them or makes them break in the same place twice, so the wave stays unpredictable. Tame or wild depending on the tide table, which must always be checked; best for intermediate and advanced riders.
