Lanzarote – Costa Teguise

The beaches of Las Cucharas and Los Charcos on Lanzarote's east coast, where the trade wind blows side to side-offshore from the left at 4–6 Bft, most reliably from April to September and up to 6–7 Bft in high summer. A protected bay makes the inside safe for learning and training; outside it a small reef sorts the Atlantic swell into clean rollers of 0.5–3 m for jumping and wave riding, which is why the PWA has held freestyle events here for years. Winter wind is more changeable, but that is when the swell arrives and the island's other spots turn on; Famara on the west coast has a gentler sand-bottom wave for wave beginners.
