Lombok – Kaliantan

The main spot in south-east Lombok, a lagoon about 500 m wide and several kilometres long behind a wide beach with shallow water near the shore. From May to September the wind pumps at a consistent 15–20 knots with onshore gusts, and when it cranks the swell, chop and kickers get wild; beginners can start here but should expect to be tossed around, so lessons are a good idea. Sold as a wave spot, but the wind angle makes the untouched swell hard to ride for kiters, and real waves are on Sumbawa next door; Kura and Cobra beaches nearby are for the experienced.
