Sumbawa – Lakey Peak

A fast, hollow A-frame reef break near Hu'u on the south coast of Sumbawa that becomes one of the world's best kite waves when the cross-shore wind arrives: from August to October it averages 15–20 knots, building through the day, with epic conditions almost daily. Waves are rarely under 2 m and 4–5 m sets are common, so surfers take the morning tubes and clear out when the wind fills in, leaving the glassy left-hander to the kites and wings. An off-the-grid village with a chilled crew of locals, expats and nomads; experienced wave riders only.
