Oman's city spot, a 2 km soft-sand beach in Muscat with shallow water for about 500 m before it deepens, so the chop forms ramps and small waves. The wind averages a steady 12–15 knots in spring, summer and autumn, best from the north-east, and is unpredictable in winter. High tide narrows the beach to about 30 m; stay away from the big hotels, where it is too onshore and busy.
