Öland

A long, dry limestone island in the Baltic off Kalmar. Its warm landscape next to cold spring water creates a sea breeze of around 20 knots, almost always from the south; at Sandbergen near Haga Park the water is flat and shallow for several hundred metres over sand, a good beginner spot with a windsurf club nearby. Böda Bay in the north works in all easterly directions, with small swell when onshore, and autumn is the windiest season there.
