Ireland's largest island, off the Mayo coast. Dooniver beach has flat to choppy water in northerlies and stays rideable when it is blowing a gale elsewhere, with wrapping swell in strong west to north-west winds; Doogort on the north coast has medium waves and currents for experienced riders in south to south-west winds. Atlantic depressions bring the wind in spring and autumn.
