The Canaries' wave classic on the south coast of Tenerife, where the Alisios trade wind blows 12–30 knots side-onshore from the left, most reliably from May to September with 90 % of July and August days above 4 Bft, and still on more than 60 % of winter days. Playa Sur has grey sand with some pebbles and 1–2 m waves, with much bigger Atlantic swell further out. Best for wave-curious intermediates and experts; the station teaches beginners at a mole-sheltered spot upwind, and newcomers do better in the quieter off-season months.
