Hurghada – Magawish

A freeride area straight off the beach south of Hurghada, with small wind chop running out into the open sea and, 700 m upwind, the Magawish sandbanks: at low water they dry out and leave glassy, turquoise flat water in their lee with standing-depth patches to rest on. Wind blows from February to November and is best from March to October; the morning side-offshore phase can leave holes on the first 100 m. Suits all levels, with lessons held in front of the station or out on the sandbanks by shuttle boat; anyone who only wants flat water should look elsewhere.
