A picturesque bay on the Maremma coast 15 km south of Grosseto and a short drive from Rome, whose riders make it their favourite for its steady winds and calm water. A shallow, sandy seabed makes it a safe place to learn as well as to practise, and the bay works all year on easterly winds such as the Scirocco and Ostro. Nearby, the long pine-backed beaches between Marina di Grosseto and Castiglione della Pescaia get a westerly thermal of up to 20 knots for freestyle and big air, with waves in winter.
