Hood River – Columbia River Gorge

Hot desert to the east and a cool coast to the west drive a strong, reliable summer thermal through the Gorge, with wind over 20 knots on around 190 days a year. The river's current runs against the wind and stacks up rolling swell that makes long glides and downwinders. The Hook is the sheltered learning spot; the Event Site and the open river suit intermediate and advanced riders.
