Limnos – Keros Bay

A wide bay of fine sand on an unspoilt island in the northern Aegean, a few degrees cooler than the southern islands, with steady north-north-easterlies of 4–6 Bft from May to October that hold up better than further south in late summer and autumn. The bay splits into three areas: a side-offshore speed strip with finger-high ripples upwind, an all-round area with a big standing zone for learning in the middle, and waves of up to 1.5 m at the downwind end that work in a strong Meltemi or autumn north-easters. Suits all levels; go out in the morning to learn, since the wind builds towards midday.
