Mykonos – Kalafati & Korfos

Mykonos sits in the middle of the Meltemi zone and is ventilated from May to October, with the wind building to full strength during the morning. Kalafati in the south-east is a 600 m wide, barely developed bay where the northerly arrives side-offshore from the left over a glassy first stretch, bump-and-jump chop further out and swell at the very edge, with a headland to leeward and a rescue boat for safety. Kiters use Korfos Bay in the north, a narrow funnel that adds a few knots and gives safe onshore conditions with flat water or a light chop; Ftelia next door is one of Greece's few real wave spots, up to mast high in a strong Meltemi.
