Samos – Kokkari

A pebble bay on the green north coast of Samos where the Meltemi from June to September is topped up by a strong local thermal that forecasts often miss, giving side to side-onshore wind from the left with a high strike rate from late June. On Meltemi days in June and July a swell of up to 2 m builds further out for jumping and riding; August and September bring calmer thermal days with flatter water that suit beginners and families, and the sheltered entry rarely has a shore break. Suits all levels; shoes are useful on the stony entry unless you use the station's gravel-bag corridors.
