The lagoon of pink sand and turquoise shallows at Crete's south-west tip, flat behind the spits and sandbars and choppy to wavy on the open side. Winds from almost every direction between south-east and north-west work somewhere around the lagoon. It is a protected site crowded with day-trippers in summer, so zones and times apply and you need to ride away from the bathers.
