Costa da Caparica & Lagoa de Albufeira

The long beach south of Lisbon across the Tagus, the capital's closest spots. Nova Vaga is the official kite beach, with waves that can reach 3–4 m in a good swell; Fonte da Telha below the cliffs works in north to side-onshore winds and shelters winter storm swell; and at the southern end the Lagoa de Albufeira gives flat, chest-deep water behind a 50 m sand bar, with the Nortada at 18–20 knots on summer afternoons.
