A fishing town on the Ria Formosa lagoon east of Faro, a quieter alternative to Alvor. Big shallow areas give very flat water that gets choppier as the wind builds; the south-westerly thermal is best from June to August, and the lagoon works best at high tide. Watch the boat traffic in the channels.
