The Great Lakes' kite mecca on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan, home of the MACkite shop and its spring and autumn events. North-westerlies bring waves that on big days rival the ocean, with a flat zone by the jetties in northerlies. The best months are late April, May and September to early November; the beach is often off limits in summer because of sunbathers, and a 3/2 or 5/4 wetsuit is needed.
