Brisbane's bayside spots on Moreton Bay, such as the small man-made kite beach at Brighton and Wellington Point, with tidal sand flats that give flat, shallow water. Sea breezes from north-east round to south-east blow from September to March; in winter the wind turns westerly and offshore. The beach at Brighton is small and busy: wear a leash, wind up your lines at once and learn away from the launch.
