Southport – Ainsdale

A huge soft-sand beach north of Liverpool with big tides: at mid tide a flat-water lagoon forms that is ideal for learning, while the sea side has chop and real waves. Westerly depressions bring the wind. Strong rips drain the lagoons after high tide, the beach is covered in razor shells, and kiting here requires British Kitesurfing Association membership, which the wardens check.
