Soledade

A tidal lagoon of about 1.5 by 3 km on the coast of Rio Grande do Norte, three hours from Natal, with side-shore wind from the right at 5–7 Bft from October to January over a sandy bottom. At high tide it is around 1.5 m deep and flat all over; at low tide foilers keep to the middle, and the water gets choppier as the tide floods in. A big standing area makes it a fine learning and flat-water spot for all levels, with the open sea reachable over the sandbank; there is little around it beyond the sport, so it pairs well with nearby São Miguel do Gostoso.
