Taíba

A long bay just north of Cumbuco that looks demanding at first, since the side-onshore wind pushes 1–2 m of unruly, North Sea-like waves with a shore break onto the beach in front of the kite school; the launch there is not for beginners. Two kilometres downwind the Lagoa da Taíba offers absolutely flat water for lessons and practice, reachable by buggy shuttle, and in the other direction off the village a clean, well-ordered reef wave of up to 3 m invites wave riding. The easterly trade blows from July to February; a real combination spot with something for every level.
