Walchensee & Kochelsee

Two neighbouring lakes at the edge of the Bavarian Alps, an hour south of Munich. On sunny days from April to August an afternoon thermal of 6–18 knots blows down the Walchensee from the north, gustier at the Gallerie than at the little Zwergerlinsel peninsula, a favourite foil spot; kiters need to water-start. The Kochelsee below gets an early-morning thermal until about nine.
