A narrow Baltic peninsula with two very different sides. The open coast at Ahrenshoop has chop and, in westerlies, real waves over groynes and a strong current, for experienced riders only; behind it the shallow Bodden lagoons around Fuhlendorf give flat, standing-depth water that suits everyone and works best in northerlies. Depressions bring the wind from autumn to spring; summer is lighter.
