Norderney & Norddeich

An East Frisian island and the ferry port opposite it. On Norderney the beaches by the town give flat to choppy water on the tide and good waves over the outer sandbar in onshore winds at high tide; riding is allowed from April to October between 10 am and an hour before sunset. On the mainland, Norddeich is a tidal flat-water spot launched from a grass dyke, best about three hours either side of high tide. Westerly depressions bring the wind in spring and autumn.
