The northernmost corner of the Adriatic near Trieste, with shallow water close to shore that suits learning and practising. Summer brings south-westerly thermals, while the Bora can blast from the north-east at 15–40 knots, especially at Marina Julia, which has an organised kite zone and launch corridor. Grado's Isolotto and Pineta beaches have wind on about half the days of every month.
