Sardinia – La Caletta

A 4 km sandy beach on Sardinia's east coast between the harbour of La Caletta and Posada. A valley running across the island boosts the south-easterly thermal and the Scirocco, so it often blows 12–16 knots here when the rest of the island is calm; southerlies give flat to choppy water, a strong Mistral brings waves of 1–2 m. From June to mid-September the northern part of the beach is closed to kites; ride at the river mouth.
