Rome's beach, with a very large sandy area set aside for kite and windsurfers at the Ostia Kite Village. South to south-west winds bring waves of 1–2 m, west and north-west winds give chop; the afternoon sea breeze near Rome, the ponentino, blows through much of the year. Self-launching and self-landing are not allowed, so use the assisted launch.
