A large tidal basin sheltered from the Atlantic swell, with shallow flats that give flat to choppy water, especially around low tide. From June to August an afternoon thermal of 10–20 knots comes in from the west to north-west; September and October bring low-pressure days of 35–40 knots. Watch the tidal currents and the many boats anchored off the beaches at Andernos and Arbousiers in summer.
